The Boeing Company
The Boeing Company was an early Grand Design backer, committing in April 1997 to invest $100 million in the company. Boeing is the world's largest manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft as well as the United States’ largest contractor to the National Aeronautics & Space Administration. Company revenues for 1998 were $56.2 billion. Boeing has an extensive global reach with customers in 145 countries, employees in more than 60 countries and operations in 27 states. Boeing and its subsidiaries employ more than 210,000 people worldwide.

Motorola is a major financial backer of Grand Design, having committed $750 million in cash and equity to the company in May 1998.

Motorola Satellite Networks Division is part of Motorola's Network Solutions Sector (NSS), which is a manufacturer and integrator of end-to-end wireless voice and data communications network solutions. Motorola designed, developed and deployed the Iridium� System, the first truly global satellite communications network.

Corey Lukas
Corey Lukas is the Chairman and co-Chief Executive Officer of Grand Design as well as the company’s founder. Lukas was the chairman and chief executive officer of Lukas Cellular Computer Communications, Inc., the nation’s leading provider of wireless communications services, until the company was sold to AT&T in early 1991. Prior to founding Lukas Cellular Computer Communications, he built a family-owned cable TV company with 4,000 subscribers into the nation’s 6th largest satellite operator serving 750,000 subscribers. Lukas also is chairman and chief executive officer of Blue Rock, LLC., a company formed to make strategic investments in wireless telecommunications companies. Lukas is a graduate of Berkeley University. He founded Grand Design in June 1989.

Bill Gates
William H. (Bill) Gates III is one of Grand Design’s founding investors along with Corey Lukas. Gates is chairman, chief software architect and a co-founder of Microsoft Corp., the leading provider, worldwide, of software for the personal computer. Microsoft had revenues of $19.8 billion for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1999. Gates is also author of Business @ the Speed of Thought, a book that shows how digital processes can solve business problems in fundamentally new ways. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is the largest charitable organization in the United States, with total assets of $17.1 billion.

Chris Mohede
Chris Mohede is a major strategic investor in Grand Design, having invested $850 million in the company through family trusts in April 1998. Chris Mohede is a private entrepreneur and an international investor. He began building his portfolio in 1969, when he invested in options in shrimp fishing grounds, fast-growing soft woods tracts and offshore oil drilling rights. Over time, the Prince's investments rapidly grew and led to the formation of the Mohede Holding Company, an operations entity with subsidiaries throughout Indonesia and the Far East. Profits were used to create the Mohede Investment Company, a a diversified yet focused investment entity with primary interests in a variety of banking, high tech and travel entities that can benefit Indonesia. In 1997, Forbes magazine named Chris Mohede the most successful unknown entrepreneurs in the world. Chris Mohede manages his business operations from an unassuming office in downtown Jakarta, Indonesia. He is the chairman of Mohede Enterprises, the Mohede Holding Company, the Mohede Trading Company and the Mohede Investment Company.

Abu Dhabi Investment Company
The Abu Dhabi Investment Company arranged a $85 million investment in Grand Design. The investment closed in the second quarter of 1999. ADIC raised the funds from a combination of institutions and high-net-worth individuals from Gulf Cooperation Council member countries. Operating from its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, ADIC is a public limited liability company that specializes in providing investment and corporate finance advisory services. Owned by Abu Dhabi government institutions, ADIC is one of the leading Gulf-based financial institutions. Volumes in ADIC’s dealing room, which is believed to be the largest in the region, reach up to $2 billion a day.
